The Great Eastern Railway provided a loop to service the new station at Parkeston. It left the original alignment three miles east of Wrabness Station and rejoining the old line just short of Harwich Station. The original alignment circumnavigated by the loop was then abandoned. Note the remains of the original station buildings seen on the right hand platform.
The River Stour at Wrabness
As can be seen from the map above the engineers of the line tried to utilise the gentle topography adjacent to the River Stour.
